About Me

2010 - The year that will be

2010 will be a very colorful year. We opened the year with the biggest news of all. Lizelle Maralag of Starcom decided to move to GMA Marketing and Productions, Inc. And while all the buzz was focused on LGM, Malu Vasallo, then Managing Director of OMD Philippines made her move to take charge of a GroupM branch, MediaEdge. Malu's move took place as soon as 2010 stepped in.

Soon enough, Cookie Bartolome, Managing Director of Carat made her switch too. From media agency to network, Cookie took on the marketing responsibilities of ABS-CBN.

With these major strides, it seemed like the perfect time for none other Venus Navalta to resurface from retirement. Appointed as Chairman of ZenithOptimedia. Due to this, we've seen a natural migration of ex-UniversalMcCann staff to either ZenithOptimedia or to MediaEdge.

Nevertheless, Venus was not the only one to have resurfaced from retirement. Prior to Venus' entry to ZO, the indefatigable Meckoy Quijoge stepped in to take charge of the GroupM fort.

The latest addition to MediaEdge is Murf Santillan. Murf joins other ex-UM stalwarts Adel Tuason, and Leon Uy in steering their newest win, Pfizer-Wyeth to greater heights (won via pitch versus DDB and incumbent Adformatix). Armed with the experience gained from handling Unilab in its earliest days of AOR assignment at UM, the power team is poised to show its best as it tackles the year ahead. This only makes one wonder, does MEC no longer stand for MediaEdge CIA but instead "McCann Erickson Conspiracy"?

Such is life. Ang saya sa media. We have only three months left in the year and truly, 2010 is proving itself to be the year of surprises.
