The First-Ever Kapihan Sa Bob's: Usapang Billboard

In the style of the "Kapihan" forums that was popularized in Westin Philippine Plaza (now Sofitel) in years past, PhilCourse, the Philippine Center for Out-Of-Home Media Research and Science, sponsored the first-ever "Kapihan sa Bob's: Usapang Billboard." This is the first-ever breakfast forum specifically set up for the advertising industry, specifically Out-Of-Home players.

Early morning of October 27, 2011, ad industry people converged, shared talk and warm conversation over Bob's sumptuous breakfast selections and rich coffee.

If you haven't heard of Bob's, it's actually one of Bacolod's longest-running restaurants. Best-known for their pastries, fruit punch, and Sate dishes, Bob's record of satisfying Bacolod (and now Metro Manila) foodies since 1965 is the reason why Bacolod natives would always tell Bacolod-bound first-timers to grab a bite at Bob's.

Little do the Bacolodnons in Makati know that there is a Bob's in the heart of Dela Rosa St., in Makati's business hub. If you didn't know before, now you do.

The heritage and the cozy atmosphere of Bob's Makati is the main reason why PhilCourse Executive Director Lloyd Tronco hand-picked the venue for today's groundbreaking event.

Indeed, the conversation-conducive atmosphere, delicious breakfast selections and rich, rich coffee were the elements that enriched the rather crucial discussion on the issues that surround the billboard industry of late.

Lloyd Tronco discussed crucial statistics about billboard viewership and consumption, crucial events that affected the billboard industry (i.e. Typhoon Milenyo), and most importantly, some crucial tips for suppliers on how to create a price scheme for their clients.

After the lecture by Mr. Tronco, an open forum was conducted and crucial industry issues were put forth on the table for everyone to discuss.

At the end of the 2-hour moment to meet as industry players, the forum accomplished quite a lot more than what was originally envisioned: the camaraderie strengthened relationships between industry players, the networking proved crucial for most of the guests, and the groundbreaking event proved to be a great start for what is poised to become a bi-monthly or monthly event.
