Facebook is set to go public and it is reported that many millionaires (and billionaires) will be made once its stocks become IPO's.
Among these is Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg.
Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg is the most powerful woman at Facebook -- and its second-in-command. Self-described as "the only adult in the room" whenever the Facebook core team meets, she's not ashamed to be the only woman among Facebook's most powerful. On the flipside, she is pretty disappointed at the dearth of women on the top rungs of the corporate ladder, in general.
One reason why there aren't more women at the top of the corporate ladder is that they weren't encouraged to be ambitious enough, Sheryl Sandberg believes. Another is that when motherhood interrupts, a woman's career momentum seems to plummet right with the milestone:
"Don't leave before you leave. Don't leave the workforce to have kids and not return because you didn't get that job you wanted before you left." [Source]
She believes that the solution, as a woman, is to press in, to actually be more ambitious, in order to achieve one's dreams. To not be afraid of one's power as a career woman; to not be ashamed of being a powerful woman among powerful men.
Sheryl Sandberg believes that a woman's best career choice is her choice of a spouse/life partner:
"The most important career choice you'll make is who you marry." [Source]
That it's not so bad to not have a career plan.
That honesty and taking initiative in building ties are important in creating strong, crucial work relationships.
That it's okay to work hard, as long as you and your spouse can juggle parenting responsibilities.
