Local TV shows to watch out for in 2017


Philippine TV network giants are expected to make it big again with the lineup of shows they have for 2017.

Here's a list of the upcoming TV shows next year:


JANUARY:

Your Face Sounds Familiar: Kids (ABS-CBN)


The musical competition will be back in 2017. This time, 8 kiddie celebrity performers will be part of it. The pool of judges includes Megastar Sharon Cuneta, Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano, and new Kapamilya singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid.

A Love to Last (ABS-CBN)


The much-awaited family drama will be starred by box office actress Bea Alonzo who will be playing the role of Andeng Agoncillo, a bread-winner and a successful events organizer who has always believed in love. However, she catches her fiancé cheating on her days before their wedding. Sought after leading man Ian Veneracion on the other hand will be portraying the role of Anton Noble IV who thought he already found love until his wife Grace (Iza Calzado) decides to ask for an annulment and leave him and their 3 children after many years of marriage.

Fate will bring these two together at the most unexpected time and place.

Joining the cast of “A Love to Last” are Enchong Dee, Julia Barretto, Ronnie Alonte, JK Labajo, and Hannah Vito. This is under the direction of Jerry Lopez Sineneng and Richard Arellano with creative head Henry Quitain under the business unit headed by Lourdes De Guzman.

Meant To Be (GMA)


Barbie Forteza is set to spread her wings next year in GMA Telebabad’s “Meant To Be” with leading men Ken Chan, Jak Roberto, Ivan Dorschner, and Addy Raj.

Wildflower (ABS-CBN)


Maja Salvador is back with a vengeance.  She will be starring in “Wildflower”, a story of revenge.

Joining her in the series are Wendell Ramos, Aiko Melendez, Tirso Cruz III and Joseph Marco.

Love in the Moonlight (ABS-CBN)


Love in the Moonlight is a South Korean TV series starring Park Bo Gum and Kim Yu Jung, Korea’s breakout love team of 2016.

The story is about a rebel prince and an ordinary girl who has to pretend that she’s a boy.

ABS-CBN, the first and true home of Asianovelas will be bringing their Kapamilyas a tagalized version of this Korean drama in 2017.

FEBRUARY:

Destined To Be Yours (GMA)


The long wait is over for AlDub Nation. Kalyeserye power couple Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza will finally star in their first primetime TV series “Destined To Be Yours”.

Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin (ABS-CBN)


It was in 2006 when phenomenal love team KimErald came about. To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson will be back for a new teleserye titled “Ikaw Lang Ang IIbigin” directed by Dan Villegas. Also starring with KimErald are Coleen Garcia and Jake Cuenca.

My Dear Heart (ABS-CBN)


New Kapamilya child star Nayomi Ramos will be part of ABS-CBN’s upcoming show “My Dear Heart. Nayomi will be portraying the role of Heart, an abandoned child found and raised by a couple played by Zanjoe Marudo and Bela Padilla.

Also part of the cast are Coney Reyes, Loisa Andallo, Rio Locsin, Joey Marquez, and many more. This new Dreamscape series is directed by Jerome Pobocan and Jojo Saguin.

MARCH:

My Love From The Star (GMA)


GMA network will be doing a Pinoy adaptation of the Koreanovela series “My Love From The Star” which will be starred by Jennylyn Mercado who will play the role of Steffi Choi and Gil Cuerva who will be Matteo Do.

No definite dates of release:

La Luna Sangre


After more than half a decade since “Imortal”, the show will finally have its sequel in 2017. During ABS-CBN’s trade event, it was revealed that Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo will star in the third installment of the fantasy franchise “Lobo” which began in 2008.

La Luna Sangre is a Star Creatives Television Production which will surely open the imagination of the viewers.

Written In Our Stars


2017 is confirmed as the year for “Written In The Stars” starring the Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga-Soriano and Ultimate Leading Man Piolo Pascual. The said TV series was originally scheduled to air in 2016 but was put on hold due to the pregnancy of the lead actress.

The upcoming romantic fantasy drama is directed by Andoy Ranay. Its cast include Sam Milby, Jolina Magdangal, Sarah Lahbati, and Kapamilya child star Marco Masa.

The Promise of Forever


Paulo Avelino will be Lorenzo Espinosa, a man who is cured to live forever. His greatest loss will push him to turn his back on love but one woman by the name of Sophia who will be played by Ritz Azul will change his life.

As he journeys through life, his past will haunt him. Will he be able to hide the truth forever or will time reveal his secret?

"The Promise Of Forever" will be directed by Darnel Villaflor of “Nathaniel” and award-winning independent filmmaker Hannah Espia of "Transit" fame. The directors said the story of "The Promise Of Forever" will try to prove love is "beyond forever."

Legend of the Blue Sea


The most-awaited Korean drama top starring Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun will soon hit the Filipino households.

It is a story about a royal officer in the ancient times who reincarnated as a con artist. He meets an immortal mermaid in land whom he already met before but is not aware of it.
