About Me

Have a taste of Tokyo at SABOTEN!

I love Japanese food especially Tonkatsu and Tempura. But aside from the savory dishes, the aesthetics in food presentation is something that Japenese is known for. Certainly, there are only few cuisines around the world that are as beautifully presented as Japanese food.

For others who love Japanese cuisine too, we're very lucky because Saboten has brought the Japan's finest katsu in the Philippines. It is one of the first of its kind in the country.

Interior of Saboten Glorietta

All the ingredients used for the dishes, the pork, seafood, vegetable and even the chopsticks, are strictly monitored by the head office in Japan.

The authentic katsu house serves a wide range of dishes.  All include refillable shredded cabbage, Miso soup and fluffy rice which we really enjoyed.

Deep-Fried Oyster Sharing Set

The set katsu is Php 1575. It comes with two Deep-Fried Oyster, two Deep-Fried Shrimp, one Loin cutlet 150g, one  Rolled cutlet (choice of Asparagus, Cheese, or Plum).

The cutlets were very well seasoned and full of flavor. The Pork Tender Loin Katsu was our favorite. It was juicy on the inside, but surprisingly not oily,  and crispy on the outside. Some prefer eating this with the Tonkatsu sauce, but I’m perfectly fine without it.

The Saboten Shabu-Shabu

Unlike other katsu restaurants, Saboten has Shabu-Shabu on its menu. It perfectly complements the fried dishes because it has a light flavor - balancing the flavor of the katsu.

This set comes with thinly sliced meat, various dipping sauces, udon noodles, Shimeji mushrooms, Daikon radish, cabbage, romaine lettuce, spring onions, and your choice of broth (Chicken & Ginger and Spicy Ryu Oil)

You can enjoy this hotpot at Php 795. But they also offer Shabu-Shabu a la Carte (Php 495), and Vegetable and Udon a la Carte (Php 395).

Separate orders of the ingredients are also available. We ordered additional meat platter (Php 150) and vegetables (Php 175)

Matcha Latte

I'm a Matcha addict and this is one of the best tasting by far. You can have it hot or cold at Php 195.

But what we loved the most about Saboten is their service. The servers were prompt and efficient. They were knowledgeable of the dishes, especially the Japanese way of eating. Also, the way they serve customers was very Japanese – polite and always smiling.
